On the request of the leadership of the Communist Party of Chile

The leadership of the Communist Party of Chile (CPC) has addressed the CPSU CC with the request to assist CPC Ex-General Secretary Comr. Luis Corvalan in travelling from the USSR to one of the countries of Western Europe for obtaining his Chilean passport for subsequent legal return to his homeland.

Comr. L. Corvalan will arrive in Moscow in late July 1989 for recreation and medical treatment at the invitation of the CPSU CC. He will leave Chile illegally, with modified appearance. The CPC leadership has asked to provide accommodation for Comr. L. Corvalan and his wife at the guest apartment of the Department of Affairs of the CPSU Central Committee for some days after their arrival in the USSR, and to pay for their travel from Moscow to one of West European countries and back.

We would consider it advisable to satisfy the request of the leadership of the Chilean Communist Party. The expenses related with its fulfilment might be paid from the budget reserve of the Party.

Approval by the Department of Affairs of the CPSU CC has been obtained.
