Concerning the Request of the Progressive Socialist Party of Lebanon

The leadership of the Progressive Socialist Party (PSP) of Lebanon has addressed a request regarding the annual acceptance of up to 30 activists of this party for special military training in the Soviet Union in 1987-1988.

The CPSU is rendering all-round assistance to the PSP of Lebanon, including in the sphere of training military cadres. In the years 1981-1986 fifty-one representatives of this party underwent special training in the USSR.

We believe it possible to satisfy the request of the leadership of the PSP and to order the Ministry of Defense of the USSR to accept every year up to 30 activists of the PSP for special military training in 1987-1988.

The expenses connected with the acceptance, servicing, material support, and special military training of the activists of this party, including the costs of their return fare to the city of Moscow, may be underwritten by the budget of the Ministry of Defense of the USSR.

The question has been coordinated with the Ministry of Defense of the USSR (Comrade S. F. Akhromeev) and the Ministry of Civil Aviation of the USSR (Comrade M. A. Timofeev).

The draft of the CC CPSU resolution is attached.
